Kim Jong-un (Korean: 김정은) is the President of the State Affairs Commission of the Greater Korean Republic and General Secretary of the New Chosun Worker's Party since January 2012. He is the main antagonist of Homefront. He is the third and youngest son of Kim Jong-il. Jong-un came into power after his father died in 2012 and reunited the two Koreas to form the Greater Korean Republic.
History
Kim Jong-un was born in North Korea and attended the International School of Berne in Switzerland, where he became friends with Americans attending the school and became fluent in several western languages. He attended the school under a pseudonym and was described as "shy." He was an avid skier and player of basketball, and reportedly idolized American sports icon Michael Jordan.[1]
In 2009, Kim Jong-il appointed Kim Jong-un as his intended successor. After his father passed away on January 2, 2012, Kim Jong-un immediately came into power. Shortly after becoming supreme leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un surprised the international community by announcing his intentions to bring his nation into a "new era of peace and openness."[2] He began a series of radical reforms in an effort to re-engage with the world, which includes abandoning North Korea's nuclear weapons program, reversing Kim Jong-il's repressive policies, and seeking reconciliation with South Korea.[3][4] Within a year into his reign, Kim Jong-un achieved his goals in which he helped forge a peace treaty with South Korea and began talks of Korean reunification. Kim Jong-un's actions were widely praised across the Korean Peninsula in which he earned the Nobel Peace Prize.[5] For the next three years, Kim Jong-un continued his reforms such as releasing prisoners from the labor camps established by his father's regime and helping to dismantle the Korean Demilitarized Zone.[6] By 2015, the unified Korea was swept by a wave of nationalism that was cultivated by Kim Jong-un's nationalist and jingoistic public messages that spoke of Korea as a great cultural power. On February 28, 2015, Kim Jong-un was elected the first president of the Greater Korean Republic following more than seventy percent of the country's combined population gave him an overwhelming majority in the popular vote.[7]
Despite Kim Jong-un's progressive actions, he was a ruthless, but more meticulous planner than that of his father, and saw to continuing his country's traditional practices of censorship, oppression, and religious and political persecution whilst simultaneously maintaining the facade of a democratic Korea. At the same time, he personally oversaw the modernization of the Korean People's Army. Within two years, the GKR became a technological and economic global power while the world became engulfed in an energy crisis caused by the Iran-Saudi Arabia conflict and the United States military began withdrawing from the Asia-Pacific region. In April 2018, Kim Jong-un declared war on Japan under the pretense to defend ethnic Korean-Japanese from Japanese persecution.[8] Within less than a week, Japan was swiftly conquered and became the first GKR-occupied state.[9] With the international community too focused on their domestic problems, Kim Jong-un led the GKR in annexing Southeast Asia into its sphere of influence forcefully or voluntarily.[10]
In 2025, Kim Jong-un focused his attention on a very weakened United States and sought to extract its natural resources to fuel the GKR's expansion. On January 15, 2025, Kim Jong-un authorized a surprise invasion of the United States in which the GKR detonated a high-altitude nuclear device over North America, creating an electromagnetic pulse blast that wipes out much of the nation's electrical infrastructure and was soon followed by a massive amphibious invasion launched by the KPA. The invasion force reached its furthest point at the Mississippi River, which was irradiated and effectively dividing America in half. The Western States fell under GKR occupation and turned into a puppet state known as the New Korean Federation of Occupied America.
As of 2027, Kim Jong-un continued to implement his strategy of total annexation whilst simultaneously continuing broadcasts meant to gain the trust of the people of Occupied America. However, his control of the occupied states began to wane following the Battle of San Francisco and the European Union's planned support for the beleaguered United States.

Trivia

The real Kim Jong-un.
- In reality, Jong-un became the leader of North Korea on December 30, 2011 after his father's death.
