APEX Weapons

The Biometric Weapons are constructed by APEX's Advanced Weapons Division, from APEX Corporation. All of their weaponry is user-ID locked (via fingerprint identification), in order to render it useless against Resistance fighters. Despite the Resistance cannot use it, they use the parts of it to make homebrewed firearms. Ammo from these weapons can be looted, and are compatible with homemade Resistance weapons, such as the M4 rifle, Ares Shrike 5.56, Shotgun, or even the M9 and its submachine gun conversion.

In 2029, the Resistance and NATO forces have destroyed APEX satellite network, causing all heavily integrated communications and weapon systems to collapse. This would render all the locks in their weaponry to be useless and will not be able to establish connections to make the authentication, making it prone to open weaponization.
