Hans Blix, called back from retirement by the UN Secretary general announced today that
his team was unable to locate weapons of mass destruction anywhere in the country of
North Korea. The inspections are a result of intense suspicion on the part of the US State
Department, who believe that Kim Jong-il's government was actively attempting to develop
a nuclear weapons program before his death. Kim Jong-un, the new Supreme Leader of
North Korea has publicly stated on numerous occasions his intent to re-engage with the rest
of the world and that policy of openness and transparency is the first step on that road.
This radical shift in policy was met with surprise in the international community, and has
caused many to draw parallels between modern day Korea and Germany of the 90's.
